We Won One – Let’s Not Rest, We Have A Long Way To Go

See, I told everyone that the American public can still affect decisions in Washington D.C. It just takes everyone working together.

The U.S. Senate bowed to the public swell of anti-amnesty bill/illegal immigration. Still, many politicians, including President Bush, don’t get it.

In a speech today he said this when asked about his Amnesty Bill failing. “The American people want immigration reform and Congress has failed them”

3 Trillion Dollars: That’s What The Amnesty Bill Is Going To Cost Us!

3 Trillion dollars is such a huge number, we can’t even fathom it.  But that is what it’s going to cost us the first year to document all the illegals that become U.S. Citizens under the Amnesty Bill.

Firthermore, that doesn’t take into account those that will come afterwards.

Still don’t think your taxes will go up?

Other aspects of the Amnesty Bill are;

Schwarzenegger To The Mexicans; Turn The Spanish Off If You Want To Be Successful

You know, I don’t agree with a lot of things Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger says. But you have to admit, Schwarzenegger is right on the money when it comes to the Mexicans and them learning English.

In a recent luncheon with Hispanic Journalist (does anyone know when the convention of Caucasian journalist is?), Schwarzenegger told the crowd that if Mexicans wanted to succeed academically, the needed to turn off the Spanish TV and Spanish Radio. As you can imagine, this went over like a fart in Church.

Texas News You Can Use – The Week In Review

Well, this week we look back on Governor Perry’s decision to veto HB 2006, the Eminent Domain bill. City leaders, the Texas Municiple League, The Association of Cities and Counties were wanting this bill vetoed and Governor Perry happily agreed by vetoing HB 2006.  HB2006 would have prevented this from happening. I personally emailed the Governor, just like I ask everyone here too, and asked him to sign HB 2006 into law. I received a form letter from Dede Keith of the Administrative and Constituent Services dept. saying

Day 6 of the 5 Days of Consumer Pet Peeves – Self Serve Checkout

Okay, this is your bonus day of the 5 days, 5 Consumer Pet Peeves. If you missed them, here are Day 1-Crappy Weathermen, Day 2 – Pushy Car Hops, Day 3 – Tow Truck Drivers, Day 4 – Texas Home Builders and Texas Real Estate Agents and Day 5 – TxDot and DPS Troopers.

It seems like it has been about a year or so since our local Kroger store started using those self checkout kiosk. Right away the whole thing smelled like rotten eggs.

Day 5 of the 5 Days Of Consumer Pet Peeves – TxDOT and DPS Troopers

Here is Day 5 of my 5 Days of Consumer Pet Peeves. If you missed them, here are Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 and Day 4.

Since both TxDot and the DPS Troopers are so closely related, I decided to lump them both together.

Day 4 of Consumer Pet Peeves – Texas Home Builders and Real Estate Agents

This is Day 4 of my consumer pet peeves. If you missed them, here are Day 1 , Day 2 and Day 3.

I’m not really sure how to classify Texas Home Builders and Texas Real Estate agents, slightly above tow truck drivers, below used car salesmen or above them all at the top of the list.

Day 3 Of Consumer Pet Peeves – Tow Truck Drivers

This is Day 3 of a 5 day series on my Pet Peeves as a Consumer. If you missed them, here is Day 1 and Day 2.  You’ve seen these vultures of the highway hovering around an accident, just waiting to get a chance to pounce on a disabled motorist.

Question: What’s the difference between a tow truck driver and a Vulture?

Answer: A Vulture will wait until the roadkill has stopped kicking before it moves in to feast.

Texas Alert: Contact Governor Perry Immediately About The Eminent Domain Bill!

Governor Perry has HB 2006 coming to his desk by the end of the week that he needs to sign into Texas Law. However, local muncipalities have opposed HB 2006 and my sources tell me that Gov. Perry is going to veto this Bill to appease them.

What is the HB2006? It’s the Eminent Domain bill.

Here’s a summary of the HB 2006:

Day 2 Of Consumer Pet Peeves – Pushy Car Hops

If you missed Day 1, here’s the link.

Today I want to talk about Car Hops. There is a certain national fast food chain that uses car hops to bring your food and drinks to your cars. This chain has been around for many, many years. I love their food and their drinks. In fact, this chain use to be a regular source of dates for me in my younger years.

5 Days, 5 Pet Peeves I Have As A Consumer – Day 1

I decided to do this week long series after thinking about it this weekend watching my local weather.

There are several things that just burn my butt as a consumer. So for the next 5 days, I’ll have 5 things that really aggrevate me as a consumer.

Day 1- Crappy Weathermen & Weatherwomen

No Mas Amnesty Bill

After I posted the article “Amnesty Bill Will Cost You More Taxes” yesterday, I saw where the Senate narrowly approved the Bill.

I’m a little put out by our Senator John Cornyn, he tried to attach an amendment to the bill that would deny citizenship to immigrants who are criminals. While this is a good idea if the whole Immigration Bill of 2007 was a good bill, it’s not and I believe Mr. Cornyn should be doing everything in his power to kill the bill, not trying to amend it.

Immigration Bill Will Cost You More Taxes

As if you didn’t already know the Amnesty Bill that the President is still throwing a fit over is bad, it’s also going to cost you more in tax dollars also.

Here’s a Question and Answer story I found today at AFA. I already knew the meat of the story (don’t we all!) but there are some things I was unaware of.

For Example:

Question: Will this bill adequately strengthen workplace enforcement laws and penalize employers who hire illegal aliens?

Liberal Judge Screws Farmers Branch Again

The Clinton appointed Federal Judge, Sam Lindsay, puts off making a decision on whether or not the town of Farmer Branch can enforce the law passed by a majority of law abiding LEGAL citizens earlier this year.

Now the Judge has said that he will postpone his decision unitl June 19th.

The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the American Civil Liberties Union say poor families could be thrown out of their homes because of the immigration law.

Condemned Inmate Want’s To Tell Jokes On His Death Bed

Patrick Knight, a condemned inmate set to die by lethal injection later this month, want to tell jokes before the shoot the juice to him.

I have mixed feelings about this.

On one hand, I don’t think the family of the couple he shot to death outside Amarillo will find anything funny to laugh about. Their say should come above his. It should be up to them whether this loser gets to tell jokes as they’re putting him to sleep for the last time.
