You see, Randalls has this policy against their employees chasing crooks. Okay, that’s cool. It’s their store and they can make their own policy. But what about using just a wee bit of common sense here? One of their customers, inside their own store, was calling for help. Now some could say that Randalls failed to provide adequate security for their customers, which led to this purse snatching to happen in the first place, but we’re not going there. That’s a whole story in itself.

Anyway, the lady was calling out for help. A Randalls employee responded and helped the lady. Troy simply followed the crook and directed police to his location. I don’t think you could actually call that chasing, but Randalls does and had the fortitude to fire Troy over the phone after meeting with him earlier in the week. Wow, what a stand up company!

I think that the lady who’s purse was snatched summed it up well…

“He heard me needing help, and he helped me. And then you fire him in this economy? It’s just wrong,” she said. “It is absolutely wrong.”

This is just another reason in a long line of reasons I don’t shop at Randalls. I haven’t stepped foot in one of their stores in years. I’ve always found better produce, prices and customer service at HEB, Fiesta and Krogers.

Some are calling for boycotting Randalls. I’m not going to go that far. I’ll tell you that it’s their store and they get to make policy. If they want to be complete jerks about this, that’s their right. As a Consumer, you have the right to shop other grocery stores such as Kroger, HEB or Fiesta if you do not agree with them making an exception to this rule or do not agree with them on anything!

Just keep in mind, that if you’re mugged at/in a Randalls food store, the employees are prohibited from helping!

Seems the World Court, which is a department of the United Nations, will be deciding whether or not the U.S. is defying a 2004 International Court of Justice order to review 51 cases of Mexicans sentenced to death by States.

Of course this all got started when Mexico appealed to block the executions. You have Mexicans killing Mexicans in an all out war on the border cities, your economy is so crappy you actually encourage your citizens to come here to work and send money back, your government is so corrupt it would make Chicago politics look like child’s play and you’re worried about 51 murderers who came here to kill and rape U.S. Citizens?

Mexico should have kept those thugs home if they cared so much about them.

Bottom line is folks, Mexico is afraid these executions will slow down the amount of illegal immigrants coming here. Geez, we could only hope!

But what is even stranger, the U.S. Attorney General and Condoleezza Rice have written Governor Perry and asked him to review the cases of Mexicans on the Texas Death Row.

It would take me every bit of two seconds to review their cases, how about you?

But Perry has refused and the U.S. Supreme Court has said the U.S. Government has no authority to make the states abide by their wishes in these types of cases. Good for them!

As for now, we’ll just wait and see what happens. Even if the World Courtrules against the U.S., there is nothing they can do to enforce any rulings, just like there is nothing the Prez can do to force states to follow a stupid international court of justice ruling!

I laugh every time I hear that. It’s like they’re trying to talk the property owner out of shooting someone over some material goods.

What these bozo’s, including the Pasadena 911 dispatcher who kept dragging ass while talking to Mr. Horn, doesn’t understand is that it’s the Thiefs, not the Property Owners, that decide that PROPERTY IS WORTH GETTING SHOT OVER. Every thief I ever heard or talked too, realized there was a chance of getting shot when stealing. By going ahead and stealing something, the THIEF has made the decision that his life is worth what he may be able to steal.

Personally, I know my life is far more valuable and you probably believe yours is as well. But there is a certain segment of our population who would rather steal than work. To me this says they do not value their life and must think a few stolen goods is worth more than their life. They know the risk before they act. So don’t be whiners when you’re looking down the barrel of a gun.

This is what past-their-prime-if-they-ever-had-one journalist reporters like Diane Sawyer don’t get.

Congratulations to you Mr. Horn and THANK YOU for standing up to worthless thugs who prey on us. I’m sure you’ve inspired many people to stop being a victim and start fighting back!

Wow, you have to hand it to the court in Austin that decided the State of Texas had not right to take the FLDS kids away from their Parents at the YFZ Ranch. The Texas appeals court ruled today that the Texas child protective service (CPS) authorities acted improperly when they removed nearly 450 FLDS kids from the Ranch in El Dorado. I’m surprised that the court found it this way, although most of us knew that the Jack Booted thugs at Child Welfare went way out of their way with their heavy handed Gestapo tactics when they took those kids away from their parents. Unfortunately, the court didn’t order the State of Texas to return the kids to their parents. They have given the lower Court 10 days to vacate the order to place the kids in State custody.

The Court stated that the Texas CPS did not provide proof that the kids were in immediate danger last month during the hearings and that only kids who are in immediate danger could be removed from Parents.

From what I can tell, CPS based their excuse to take the kids on the grounds that the FLDS belief system raised male children to become child abusers.

The Courts ruling stated:

The department’s lead investigator was of the opinion that due to the ‘pervasive belief system’ of the FLDS, the male children are groomed to be perpetrators of sexual abuse and the girls are raised to be victims of sexual abuse

The Court also stated that CPS did not make any reasonable effort to determine if measures other than removal would have reduced the perceived risk to the children.

The Court also noted other irregularities with the CPS handling of the case, including the phony call placed to the Child shelter.

It’s about time someone started reigning in these thugs in CPS. They’ve been given free reign far too long to make decisions about Families based on nothing more than circumstantial evidence or hearsay. Perhaps now they will do their jobs properly, but I’m not holding out much hope for them.

Now something needs to be done about the District Judges who allowed this farce to go on in the first place. Mainly Judge Barbara Walther. We have enough incompetent judges in our legal system. When one display such incompetence in a grand way, they should be removed from the bench and put back out into private practice where they will be held personally responsible for their idiotic decisions.

It’s also about time the CPS authorities also be held responsible for their actions, including a little time behind bars when they’re found to be negligent such as they were in this case.

I’m hoping those kids get put back with their parents. I agree, it’s not the ideal environment for the Kids, but it’s what they know and are used to. They’re loved and well taken care of, which is more than I can say for a lot of kids in so called “normal” homes. It’s also a helluva lot better environment than being ripped apart from your parents (some would call this legal kidnapping) and bussed across the State to group homes and then thrown into the public school system. I guarantee you this is more harmful to them in the short and long term than having to wear 1800 type clothes and working around a Ranch with their families.

Now I’m waiting for the flds kids to be returned to their Families at the YFZ Ranch so they can get along with their lives.

I was reading several blogs today and was happy to see that I wasn’t the only one upset at the way our Texas Stormtroopers raided and subsequentially handled the raid on the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints compound.

This raid and the way Texas is treating the Families is wrong in so many ways. And what’s worse is the lack of Media attention this bungled raid is getting.

From the beginning there have been some serious questions needing answered by the State of Texas.

1. Where is the girl who supposedly called? It’s been over two weeks and the authorities can’t produce this “girl” who called the abuse center. Hmmmm
2. If these girls were so bad off as the State of Texas says, then how is it that a 16 year old girl has a cell phone and the number to the abuse center?
3. Where is the recording of the call? Would the State of Texas please release the recording?
4. Why haven’t there been any arrest of the Males who alledgedly had sex with these girls? It’s been over two weeks but no arrest. If this problem was as rampant as the Sheriff and the State of Texas makes it out to be, why are there no arrest?
5. Since when does the State of Texas execute search warrants on hearsay?
6. It was reported by Investigators that there were ”lots” of pregnant teenage girls running around the compound, but since the raid, only 3 (possibly) have been found. Now they’re saying “they appeared to be “lots” of pregnant teenage girls!”
7. It now appears the wrong man was named in the affadavit. Way to go Texas!

It’s pretty obvious Texas’s raid against the FLDS compound was as much a cluster f**k as the Federal Raid on Waco was, even more so when you see these peoples Constitutional rights being violated for no other reason than it being an election year and the “powers to be” not agreeing on how these people live thier lives.

Who’s next…the Amish? Menonites? Jews? Rednecks?

What kind of an outcry do you think would have gone up if this had been a Spanish compound or a compound full of Muslims? But since it was a bunch of Fundamentalist Mormom’s living like it was 1800, no freakin’ problem.

State of Texas violating Constitutional Rights of Kids and Families

Since the State of Texas has no proof against anyone in the compound, they have resorted to performing DNA test on the kids from the FLDS compound.

Do you think they received permission from the Kids to do this? Do you think they received permission from the Parents? Who gave them permission?

Oh wait, that’s right. The State of Texas took these kids away from their parents so they could have the right to perform DNA test so they could try and find someone to charge.

This stinks to high Heavan and everyone from Greg Abott to the Sheriff and the Law Enforcement personel taking part should have their kids taken away and be thrown in jail. There’s a helluva lot more evidence against them than against the FLDS members they took.

What about the Kids?

Have you seen some of the conditions these kids were living in after the State of Texas took them away? Deplorable!

“We’re from the State, we’re here to save you” came to mind as I watched News footage of a buch of Kids in a shelter living elbow to elbow. How scared many of the Kids must have been.

It’s also no secret how the State of Texas deals with Kids in these situations. There’s been more than one News show documenting how the State puts these Kids on a variety of mind altering drugs.

You also don’t have to look far to find how grossly incompetent that CPS and their Investigators are.

Texas Releases the FLDS Raid Affadavit

I just read the FLDS Raid affadavit over on Guy Murray’s, The Messenger and Advocate blog. It’s more alarming than what I thought it would be. No hard evidence, just vague information and third party accounts.

This story just keeps sprouting legs and making not only the State of Texas look like the Jack Booted thugs they are in this case, but the local law enforcement, CPS and Judge ruling over the case as well.

I also found this link on Guy’s blog to Steve Evan’s blog. This post has some of the most thoughtful comments I’ve seen so far on this matter. I’m glad to see that Texas can’t pull the wool over everyones eye’s.

And just for the record, I’m not a member or supporter of the FLDS or LDS. I think you can read this blog and figure that out. What I am is mad as hell that a branch of the Government can go and tear Families apart just becasue they don’t agree with how they’re living. In any other account, you couldn’t get the State to step in and take kids away from anyone on hearsay evidence. Not this time, they were more than happy to!

You know, it’s one of the things that surprises most people from out of State. That one thing is how many places serve liquor before Noon and during Lunch. I hear from my out of State clients quite often that they can’t believe there are so many places that serve liquor during the Lunchhour. I like a cold beer and burger as well, perhaps even more so, than the next person. However I’m seeing more and more Texas drunk drivers who’ve had a few too many at Lunch!

Just stop into any Ice House or franchised eating establishment for Lunch and chances are you can have your choice of liquor.

Now having said that, this is what happens to some people AFTER Lunch!

A call to the local Sheriff’s Dept.  didn’t do much either. They said they’d send someone out to try and stop this guy. I followed him for over 10 miles like this and not one Law Enforcement dept. showed up.

Perhaps they already knew this drunk driver. Sadly, this isn’t the first time I’ve seen drunk driving in Montgomery county.

I caught my Wife watching a reality show titled, Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making The Team, the other night.

Has anyone saw this show on CMT?

Okay, let’s get some facts straight. I know this show must be over dramatized for the TV show. I can’t believe they actually go through that whole freakin’ routine just to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader.

If so, Jerry, let me save you some dough.  You don’t need that huge brew-ha-ha production to find a couple cheerleaders.

Here’s the facts.

No one, at least no who matters (read, ticket buyers and NFL viewers) cares about choreography.  They don’t care what the IQ of the cheerleaders are. They don’t care about their backgrounds and they don’t care what they do in their off time.

Oh yeah, tonight they were giving the girls etiquette lessons. Jerry, no one cares if a Dallas Cowboy’s Cheerleader knows which fork is a Salad fork and which one is for the main course. Trust me on this one!

The only thing people want to see is for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders to go out and shake their Pom-Pom’s. That’s it. I know this may hurt the feelings of the production team and the Choreographers, but at the end of the day, all that other stuff doesn’t matter to us!

In fact, you can save yourself some money Jerry by going down to Hooters and hire some of the Waitress’s to show up on Sunday afternoon and on Thanksgiving Day, put them in a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader get-up and give them Pom-Pom’s to shake and we’re perfectly happy!

It doesn’t take much to entertain us Jerry!

Oh, I know that the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders are there to also Market the Dallas Cowboy team, still, it’s not a problem. The Hooter’s waitress’s will still work.

Trust me on this!

If you listen to the people running the search for the Next Dallas Cowboy’s Cheerleaders, you think that their target audience are Champagne and Caviar types.

Can’t you imagine a group of Sunday afternoon NFL viewers sitting around watching a Dallas Cowboys game and one saying,

“Hey Guys, you know the third one from the left has a 4.0 grade average from Harvard?”

“No way, get out of here Dude” another one would say

“But I heard that she used the wrong fork at a Luncheon the other day with the Chamber, very embarrassing if I do say so.” another one chimes in,

“Really, the wrong fork? What a Savage!” yet another guy would say

Trust me Jerry, when we’re sitting around the TV or at the Bar watching your Cowboys and the Camera cut’s off and shows the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, that’s not what we’re talking about!

Brute Force vs Brute Force and T&A, that’s all we want to watch football for Jerry, don’t try and make it more than it is.

The State has passed several laws over the last few years dealing with the Insurance industry. These new state laws allow for more competition among insurance companies.

Really, is there anyone you want to see less than your insurance agent?

But it’s a conversation that’s likely to save you some money.

It did for John Gordy of Rowlett.

He was with an insurance company for 20 years.

But when his kids started driving, and his rates went up, he looked for an alternative and found one.

“I went from $1,600 to $1,100,” he said.

That’s a saving of $500 a year, a number that made it pretty easy to leave his old company.

What you need to do to take advantage of these new laws is to sit down and do some calling. Call a few independent insurance agents and let them shop the new companies for you. Just make sure you do you homework and choose a reputable independent agent.

As the article states, you get what you pay for so don’t try to go to the bottom of the barrel. Compare apples to apples. This is where a good agent will more than pay for their self!

A drunken crook got a little more than what he bargained for when he tried to hold up a Dallas cleaners.

As the drunken crook entered the dry cleaners with a gun, one of the Owners motioned him toward the cash register and told him the money was all his. Meanwhile, the owners Wife had ducked into the back. 

The business owners were more than happy to give him the money, but this crook apparently had other things on his mind as he grabbed the owner by the wrist and told him “Turn around, we’re going to the back”

The crook motioned for the owner to head into the back room. As the crook held the gun to the owners head, the Wife appeared behind them with a 9mm. She told him to stop or she’d shoot.

As the crook turned toward her with the gun, the owner grabbed his wrist and a struggle ensued. The wife handed the 9mm pistol to the owner who promptly fired off 3 rounds, one of which hit the crook in the face. The crook then staggered out into the parking lot where he collapsed. EMS arrived and tried to revive the crook, but he died.

The dry cleaner remained open, the owners filling out police paper work while taking care of their usual duties as a small business. Later in the day just before closing, the owner of the Dry Cleaners, Joseph Baggett, washed the crooks life blood off his parking lot and into a storm drain with a garden hose.

A fitting end for a crook don’t you think?

The Nueces County District Attorney’s Office has decided not to seek the Death Penalty in capital murder cases until the U.S. Supreme Court decides whether lethal injection is cruel and unusual punishment.

I’m not sure why they came to this decision, the State certainly didn’t make them. In fact, most DA’s in Texas believe the U.S. Supreme Court will “okay” lethal injection for executions.

I hope the people of Corpus Christi and Nueces County remember the failure of their DA’s office to shirk their sworn duty. When these bozo’s come up for reelection, I hope the good voters will decide to find someone who can stand up and do their job that they were elected to do.

Meanwhile, I guess any Capital murders that happen in Nueces County are going to be plea bargained for Life in Prison or be hung up for years until the U.S. Supreme Court makes a decision.

Fort Bend DA Has Humane Option to Lethal Injection

Meanwhile, the Fort Bend County DA said he believed that lethal injection was very quick and painless but added he thought the guillotine was a much quicker and humane way of executing people.

I’d have to agree! I also think it would be a much better deterent. Let’s see how many of those Gangbangers would be willing to pop-a-cap in someone if they thought there was a chance their heads would go rolling!

I know, I know, judging BBQ is subjective. Well, I’m subjective and I have ate at all the “famous” BBQ places in Texas such as Stubbs, Ruby’s Muellers, Sonny B’s, Rays, Woody’s plus a whole host of other little BBQ places in between.

Most of them are damn good too! Others just think they’re good. 

However, I’ve found a place in Spring Tx off of I-45 that has the best brisket day in and day out of any place I’ve visited. It’s Thomas’s BBQ at Rayford Sawdust on the I-45 feeder heading North toward The Woodlands.

I don’t know how those little old Asian ladies cook that brisket, but man it turns out good every time. Perfect smoke ring with just the right amount of smokiness in the meat. And to top it off, they make some pretty mean sauce also!

So the next time you over this way, stop in at Thomas’s and try out that brisket. Their other meats are okay, but it’s the brisket I’ll wait in line any day for!

BTW, since we’re talking Texas BBQ, I’m giving a little mini Review on Woody’s in Centerville.

I stopped in there (North bound side) the week before the 4th of July. I have to admit, this was my first visit. I’d heard so much and had high expectations.

I have to say, I was disappointed to say the least. I went to get a brisket sandwich only to find that I had to choose from some allready prepared sandwiches in a plastic container.  Then I grabbed me some ribs, which wasn’t easy either.

The ribs were ‘okay’. I’d stop there again for the ribs as long as I didn’t have to wait in line. The brisket sandwich was a big let down. It looked liked it had been cooked in the oven in foil…yeah the ole Texas Crutch…plus the meat was not flavorful at all. The shocker was that the sandwich alone was around $4. I wouldn’t have minded paying that if it had been decent meat.

Someone told me once that Woody spent July off the coast of Florida fishing for Marlin. I have no idea if that’s true or not. If it is, good for him! However, since it was right before July when I stopped in, maybe he was out of town and the employee’s were slacking a little. I have no idea. I may have just caught them on a bad day, I’ll probably give them one more chance and see if it was an off day or the norm.

Maybe I’ll try the South bound side next time?

Well, this week we look back on Governor Perry’s decision to veto HB 2006, the Eminent Domain bill. City leaders, the Texas Municiple League, The Association of Cities and Counties were wanting this bill vetoed and Governor Perry happily agreed by vetoing HB 2006.  HB2006 would have prevented this from happening. I personally emailed the Governor, just like I ask everyone here too, and asked him to sign HB 2006 into law. I received a form letter from Dede Keith of the Administrative and Constituent Services dept. saying

Thank you for taking the time to contact the Office of the Governor regarding HB 2006. I have shared your correspondence with our legislative and Budget, Planning and Policy division staff. Governor Perry is closely reviewing all bills that are sent to his desk by the legislature.

Now I didn’t need to have a magnifiying glass to see that this letter really meant “Thanks for writing, it’s in the Governors Best Interest to sign this Bill and no citizens interest are not going to stop him”

In Baytown this week, there were 4 kids killed in a car accident early one morning around 4 a.m. A 15 year old boy presumably snuck out of the house and stole a vehicle and he along with another 15 year old, a 3-14 year olds and a 12 year old all went joy riding. There was a stopped train on the tracks that the kid driving did not see and their vehicle slammed under it, killing the 14 year olds and the 12 year old girl.

My heart grieves for the Families of those kids. As a Father myself, I can’t imagine the grief they must be going through. This is one reason I’m cutting them some slack when they started blaming the railroad for the accident.

Furthermore, the Father of the 12 year old said he knew they planned on sneaking out, but he couldn’t stop them. He told the media…

“The only thing I can say is my daughter made a bad decision,” said Dawson Moyers, Macy’s father. “I knew they were planning on sneaking out. I saw that part before she disabled me on her MySpace. I saw that they were making plans. I tried to stop those plans.”

I’d like to say a lot more than I’m saying here but out of respect, I’m not. All I will say is that there were some parents who let their kids down. Don’t blame the railroad, don’t blame the car manufacturer. If you want to blame someone, blame the person looking back at you in the mirror. It’s absurb to say you couldn’t stop your 12 year old from sneaking out. It’s your job to watch your kids, not the Railroad company’s.

In Dallas, they nearly elected a openly Gay Mayor. However, as usual the election was not nearly as close as those on the Left and those in the Media wanted it to be. Ed Oakley, the gay councilman, lost by 13,000 or so votes. Instead, Dallas chose retired Businessman Tom Leppert to lead the 9th largest city in the United States.

Personally, after the last elections, I believe it’s only a matter of time before Dallas joins Austion as being the Liberal leaders of Texas. Of course, that can be said with any large Metro area of Texas due to the demographics of such cities.

A Professor from A&M – Corpus Christi loses a flash drive with the personal information on about 8,000 former and current students while in Madagascar.

According to the Corpus Christi Times Caller:

Department of Mathematics Chairman Blair Sterba-Boatwright took the flash drive with him on a two-week vacation and discovered it was missing as he was packing to go home, Collins said.

My question is, why did the good Professor have a flash drive with personal information on 8,000 students, including social security numbers, with him on vacation? Do any of you take such things from the people you work for when you go on vacation? I didn’t think so. This smells.

President Bush is trying to revive the Illegal Immigration Amnesty Bill again. Someone please help me understand this man’s way of thinking? Nearly every freakin’ poll I see says something along the lines of 80 to 90% of the U.S. Citizens are against this Amnesty Bill. I don’t know, maybe President Bush is confused with the 80 to 90% of illegal Mexicans who are in favor of it?

Folks, you need to contact both your U.S. Representative and U.S. Senators and make sure they understand that you want them to block this bill! Don’t sit on your ass and do nothing. That makes you no better than the illegal aliens. Actually, it makes you less than the illegal aliens because they do contact people who can help get bills like this one passed.

Texas Monthly list Dan Patrick, State Senator from Katy, as one of the Top 10 Worse Lawmakers. Like naming a conservative as a “worse lawmaker” would come as a surprise from the Texas Monthly. Yep, Ole Dan doesn’t know how to play the game. What was he thinking of trying to roll back property taxes, put a cap on State government spending, stop Uncle Sam from taking our land at will and a host of other conservative measures. You see, Dan Patrick is actually one of a handful of Texas Politicians who did what the people sent him to office to do, which is to represent the people of Texas, not specials interest groups with Left or Right wing agendas or to further their political careers. Seems like Texas Monthly has a problem with politicians who actually stand up to the status quo and do what they were sent to Austin to do. (hint: if you’ve ever seen most of the people they have on the Editorial staff, you’d understand their anti-conservative stance)
