I was on the West side of Houston yesterday traveling down Hwy 6 when I decided to see how much of a difference there was on Houston gas prices. From Hwy 6 just North of I-10 all the way up to 290, I did my own survey. Here’s what I found.
The cheapest gas in Houston along Highway 6 was at Kieth Harrow at the Wal-Mart, $3.57 a gallon.
The Valero just down the road was $3.59
The Conoco at Hwy 6 and Timber Creek Place was also $3.59
The Chevron at Hwy 6 and West Little York was $3.69
The Exxon at Hwy 6 and 529 was $3.65
The Shell at West road and Hwy 6 was $3.59
And the other Shell just down the road at Huffmeister was $3.69
That’s certainly a big difference between stations all within a few miles of each other.
Today I saw gas for $3.59 at the Valero on Hwy 242 East of I-45 on the North side of Houston, just East of The Woodlands.
I think I’ll try and do this at least once a week when I’m driving around Houston. Maybe we can help each other out. If you see cheap gas prices in Houston, by all means, leave a comment about where you saw it, which gas station you saw it at and the location. I’d also like to hear about the wide range in prices you see. For example, back in March I was on Hwy 99 in Katy when the Shell across the intersection from where I was filling up at a Exxon was .22 cents higher. How does being located across a freakin’ highway make a 22 cent difference in gas prices?
