I am a liberal who will be voting for Obama, and I am also against illegals. You are wrong about the Houston policy by the way. It simply states that no cop can ask or seek to find out the immigration status of any person they talk to. This is a good policy in that it will encourage people to help the cops in solving crimes. The Houston policy does NOT shield illegals who are arrested as SF does. Any person who is taken into custody and there is any question as to their immigration status, gets ICE called on them. I would support the cops getting trained so that they could ask and find out the immigration status of suspects even if they are not arrested. Often times there is not enough evidence or testimony due to fear and evasion, so it is in our best interests, to use all of the tools to rid ourselves of such criminal aliens.

I also support making it mandatory to have all employers use E-verify, and if they still hire somebody when it comes back that they are not legal, then they should go to jail too. It is high time that we get a border fence built too. I am not alone in the Democratic party in advocating this. The late Rep. Barbara Jordan was head of Clinton's commission on immigration and I urge all to read her remarks when she presented their findings and recommendations. She was a FIRM believer in deportation ASAP and other measures. She was also a staunch liberal too.
