Navy SEALs Free U.S. Captain – 3 Terrorist…Err…Pirates Killed

Well, it took 5 days of Obama twiddling his thumbs, watching the Polls and negotiating with terrorist before he signed off on letting the Navy SEALs rescue Captain Phillips. 5 days of Capt. Phillips sweltering in 100 plus temps inside a lifeboat with 4 terrorist.

I guess you could argue that it’s better late than never, but really, 5 days? Perhaps he was busy trying to keep his illegal alien Aunt from being deported?

Now what should happen is that we have swift and decisive air strikes followed by a land invasion from the Marines on every little crap hole these so called Pirates hang out. We know where they’re at but do you think Obama will do that? If you do, please, hold your breath until he does.

In fact, this is what Obama had to say about the rescue.

…the United States needs help from other countries to deal with the threat of piracy and to hold pirates accountable

Have you noticed a pattern with Barrack lately? According to him, America is always needing help with something! We need help with the financial crisis, help at helping others, help to fight piracy, etc. You see what is happening here? Obama’s trying to steer us to thinking we need the World’s help in every matter at home and abroad. That’s called transnationalism and Obama has bigger plans for it than Bush every thought about having.

I’ll bet that Obama will probably have those SEAL Team members demoted for killing the Pirates. He probably just wanted them shot in the arm or leg, not killed. Probably didn’t want their feelings hurt by taking away their hostage.

Kudos to the Navy SEALs, Captain Phillips and the Crew of the hijacked ship. They proved to be Americans. They fought back! They didn’t wait to be negotiated over. They saw evil and beat it back even though they had no guns. How many of those other hijacked ships or more than 200 hostages still being held by Somalian Pirates do you think would be there if they had fought back like these Americans? Damn few!

What Do Somali’s Think Of The Rescue of Capt. Phillips?

AP did a story about the rescue. It said that most Somaili’s are sympathetic to the Pirates but worry that some nations will retaliate and attack they towns the live in. Especially if the Pirates/terrorist take revenge out on some of the other hostages they are holding.

Personally, I’m sure that if it’s up to Obama, that guy has nothing to worry about!

The AP interviewed one Pirate who said that it was a “painful experience” learning about his dead Pirate buddies. Personally, I think we should make it a painful experience for all of his Pirate/terrorist friends.

But the Somalian Pirate then went on to say this:

This is unfortunate action and our friends should have done more to kill the captain before they were killed. This will be a good lesson for us

Ahhh…this is what happens Mr. Obama when you drag your feet and the enemy, yes I said enemy, thinks you’re weak.

It’s said you can tell a Pirate in Somalia when you see one because they are fat and happy.

It’s about time we made it to where the Somalian Citizens have a career choice of being a skinny and sad fisherman versus being a Fat and dead Pirate.

    Well pal if you think that 4.5 days equates to “twiddling thumbs” you are really showing your ignorance. Going in with guns blazing and a two-hour prep works only in the movies. Considering the terrain (Open Ocean) and the fact that the lifeboats on ships of that size are not merely rowboats but fully enclosed small skiffs which limits visibility of those onboard, and the fact that a helicopter coming in or a huge Navy frigate getting closer would be a more than obvious tipoff to the pirates. Given these considerations and the fact that you have a LIVE hostage onboard I would say that 5 days was great mission planning and based on the outcome it was executed perfectly. Not so for the french commmandos who had even more time and did recover the boat but lost the life of one hostage in the process. You sir are armchair quarterback who thinks that real-life scenarios such as this can be solved PS3 style. Wake up and stop being so focused on bashing the current administrastion that you make ignorant statements in your column based on no facts or intel.

    Well Ben, I’m not sure which branch of the Army you’re in, but somewhere in my past I have had some experience in this field, eight years to be exact. As we now know, the Terrorist…or Pirates if you want to be politically correct, were sniped by SEAL’s on the fantail of the Bainbridge. Whether they intended to snipe them all along or pull off an underwater assault (yes, even in an enclosed lifeboat Ben, they have their ways), it doesn’t take 5 days of planning. These guys train for this on a constant basis and putting an assault together doesn’t take 5 days. Maybe it does in your branch of the Army, but not in others. The simple reason it took as long as it did was because The Commander-In-Chief didn’t give the go ahead.

    He wanted to negotiate with them.

    BTW, what the hell is a PS3 anyways? Is that your Commander?

    Yes the Frenchies lost one hostage. But there were 5 hostages on that sailboat, not 1 and 5 Terrorist. A little different circumstance there.

    And yet Ben, your Commander-In-Chief had this to say about the event;

    We have to continue to be prepared to confront them when they arise

    Therein lies the problem. Obama wants to wait for another hijacking of an American ship. Instead of “preparing to confront them when they arise”, how bout being proactive and taking them out so they can’t hijack another ship?

    Only until the time comes when it is not profitable enough for the terrorist to hijack ships will they find another income stream. Whether that is making it unprofitable by having ships go out of their way to avoid the area or by making the risk to their lives more grave than the ship is worth, it needs to be handled.

    As Shane Murphy, the Chief Mate aboard the Maersk Alabama said;

    It’s time for us to step in and put an end to this crisis.” “It’s a crisis, wake up”

    Well said Shane, well said. Now let’s see if Obama has the gonads to put an end to it. Although I won’t be holding my breath waiting for that to happen! Or he could pull a Clinton and thow a bunch of Cruise Missiles downrange at worthless buildings! That will teach ‘em!

    I’m struck by the fact that this author has nothing good to say about Obama’s correct decision. There are many perilous situations going on currently; this is just one of them and not to minimize the hijacked ship Captain and his crew’s perils, but the President has a lot to do, and he’s busy doing it. The author (anonymous, if you will note) seems to have had one beer too many already, giving “kudos” to those who were relatively helpless to help themselves and would likely still be stranded if not for Obama’s decision. If the author cannot do Obama’s job, if he must anonymously hide behind his judgmental criticisms asking for beers, he might fare better blogging about people’s gardening or something less inflammatory because we who have some respect for those in authority and their good faith efforts don’t care to hear what these got-nothing-better-to-do-than-express-hate-anonymously “bloggers” have to put out there. You’re wasting our time just like you claim the president did . . . he’s got good reasons to need time from the people, what’s your excuse??

    @Caseviewer,

    Obviously you haven’t read my blog thru and thru or you’d see who I was. By the way, is your real name Caseviewer? I didn’t think so!

    I’m not sure (and I doubt you are as well) what you’re talking about “those who were relatively helpless to help themselves and would likely still be stranded if not for Obama’s decision”

    WTF? Are you on Crack? Did you even take just a wee bit of time to find out the facts before browsing the Internet and leaving incoherent comments?

    Even those in the Military are saying that Obama set on this way too long. It could have been ended within hours after the SEAL’s showed up on the scene.

    By the way, judging by your incoherent rambling in your comment, you’d be doing yourself a favor by throwing back a few beers yourself! It might be a cure for that rambling ADD you have.
