Here lately, it seems that Ron Paul and some in his campaign have finally realized that relying on their kook fringe base might not go over real well with mainstream America.
So it looks like Ron Paul is trying to shake the kooks out, however the more he tries the more he picks up. The Ron Paul campaign seems to attract the fringe kooks like metal shavings are attracted to a magnet.
There’s an old saying in politics. “You get the supporters you deserve.” Truer words could not be used to describe the Ron Paul campaign!
Even his own supporters can’t decide on how, or even if, they should ditch the wacko’s. Of course, some in his campaign ARE THE WACKO’S.
For example, when Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad came to the U.S. a few weeks ago, some of the Ron Paul supporters thought it would be a good ideafor Ron Paul to meet with Ahmadinejad.
If you read through that whole thread, you’ll see some of his supporters believe that Ahmadinejad is not a bad guy at all, just misunderstood…like Ron Paul! (can you hear the Cuckoo clocks going off?)
Here’s a quote from one of them.
He is NOT a madman! he is actually an intelligent and virtuous leader
Next we have the incident on the Ferry with the Ron Paul 911 Conspiracy nuts yelling insults at Rudy. Insults like “What did you do with all the Gold!” Referring to the 200 million dollars of Gold that is supposedly missing from the Twin Towers.
The Ron Paul camp was quick to denounce that incident.
Then we have this excellent you tube video of the Communist Party-USA parade along with CODE PINK and ANSWER groups. Their all pretty much the anti-American, Anti-War, Legalize drugs crowd.
Watch the video. Do you see any other candidates banners there?
So now Ron Paul is faced with the task of trying to distance his self from the fringe. I hope he has stopped to think that it’s this very fringe that he started out embracing that is now the group of supporters making the campaign donations. I’m not sure they’re going to like it when the see “Ronnie” slowly backing away from them.

You can find crazy people who support ever person running. This has got to be one of the dumbest things ever written (you are also a terrible writer). You shouldn’t vote for someone because a “kook” supports them. Debate the issues
Well, you got the quote wrong. We get the “government” we deserve. What’s happening with the Paul campaign is what happens with any new ideas (even if they are good ones.) The biggest impediment to any new idea is its early adopters. But no candidate can afford to jettison supporters. Rudy has supporters who think the government should detain all Muslims. Thompson has supporters who think he really is the D.A. of New York City, southern accent and all. Huckabee has supporters who think evolution is the spawn of the devil. Romney has supporters who think polygamy is a higher calling. Tancredo and Hunter have tons of supporters who think Mexicans are all criminals and should be shot on sight. And Brownback has no supporters at all.
And yet, only Ron Paul is taken to task because some of his supporters are on the fringe. Well, too bad. No politician can be held responsible for who supports him. When Ron Paul couldn’t get arrested, people like Alex Jones would give him air time. And that attracted a lot of people who are conspiracists and truthers. Ron Paul has always said he doesn’t buy in to their philosophy. So it’s merely one more thing that the media types can try to tar him with. He is an eminently reasonable and prudent man. He does not surround himself with fringe people. I support him and you couldn’t find anyone more mainstream than me. So, let’s see the media give him real, honest coverage and watch the percentage of “fringe” people drop when he gets larger numbers supporting him. . . but that’s just what the media is trying to guard against, isn’t it?
I got news for you, YOU are the lunatic. You want to continue occupying a country and you want to nuke a country for no reason.
Don’t worry about WHO is supporting Ron Paul. Listen to his message. It’s a message that ALL freedom loving Americans can appreciate: smaller government, lower taxes, less government spending, stop policing the world, end illegal immigration, and repeal the unconstitutional Patriot act. If those who believe in these principles are “kooks”, then you would have called Washington, Jefferson, Paine, Franklin, and the rest of the founding fathers “certifiably insane”. Ron Paul is the only candiate who truely honors the constitution of the United States. Defeat Hillary. Vote Ron Paul 2008.
